I stopped by my old school this afternoon. I had a bunch of candy left over from the teacher orientation fair so I thought they could use some sugar over at Lee Middle. While there I ran into a few people I used to work with, and had a great time reconnecting a bit. I also heard about this. The top picture is Old Yeller, the guy who taught in the room next to mine and screamed at the kids all the time. Apparently the charges have been dropped since, but Old Yeller will not be returning to Lee Middle. The vice principal I talked to today said the spring was just horrid-- parents were calling left and right after the news story broke, convinced that their child had been victimized in some way. I'm horrified and sickened and want to throw up. I knew there was something not quite right about him...
This also came out today. Varsity Lakes is the school at the end of our street, where I went to talk to the principal last December in hopes of landing a math teacher job... not interested any more.
In other news, Williams Sonoma is having their summer sale down here. I stopped in for this, (better picture here) and left with a lot more. Dang it. That's what you get when you never go shopping. All hell breaks loose when you walk into the store. Or maybe my credit card gets loose... whichever. Anyway, if you're a W-S fan, check out their sales in your area. Their spatulas and rubber scrapers are just awesome, and at $4.99 on sale, they're a great deal.
I'm off for the afternoon and am going to try to clean up a bit. The house is still in disarray after our little shelving escapade. Appliances are everywhere, and I need to get some more order in here. We have our small group tonight so I get to experiment with yet another dessert idea. I just love that about hosting a small group-- I get to make all the dessert ideas I've had for a long time, but I don't end up eating them all up! Sharing the calories is a good thing. I'm also going to try to make broccoli and cheese --oh, the word just left me. It's like taking a pizza and folding it in half--- stromboli, that's it. Have refrigerated biscuits for the dough, have broc, have cheese, need recipe. I think I'll do a little searching around on allrecipes.com and see what I come up with.
I'm still just in shock about Old Yeller.
