I poked around this morning on the metafilter thread about superbowl commercials. I even posted a comment... to which another person replied thusly:
--------------------
My comment: "Does anyone else wish that Prince had sung the National Anthem, and Billy Joel had done the half-time show?"
Other person's comment: "You are a bad person and should be medically evaluated."
--------------------
Ha! Well, then. Don't hold back or anything. I guess that answers my question from last night, "Why is he up there? Does anyone still like Prince?"
My favorite commercial was the Chevy one where the girls are in the car and the guys start washing it and ripping off their shirts, etc. It's not my favorite because of the shirtless guys; I just love seeing gender tables turned. Perhaps we're evolving. And then the GoDaddy.com and SalesGenie ads came on and I was reminded that we're not so progressive a country after all. Oh, well. I did like the Coke ad with the Rube Goldberg machine inside the Coke machine. I taught a Rube Goldberg class a few years back and just love stuff like that.

What was your favorite?

Dear K and B: I can't figure out the appeal of Prince, maybe its my age, but really Billy Joel would have been far superior. And the ads--really disappointing this year. The best was Oprah and Dave and the coke ads. What is the deal with Godaddy--don't understand and again that probably is my age. Perhaps the powers that be are trying to appeal to the 20 somethings, but they left me cold. Mom
I have to agree with your mom that the Oprah and Letterman ad was great!!
