Before...

Cooking in Florida is a mysterious thing. I was so excited to try to make my own bagels, and the recipe I found online (thanks, allrecipes.com!) seemed foolproof. Not so in Florida, I guess. But I've had other baking issues, so I shouldn't be surprised. For those of you who haven't made your own bagels before, they're made much like soft pretzels. Mix the dough, let it rise, shape into bagels, let them rise, boil, then bake. Here they are boiling in a pot of water and molasses.
