I just love the skies here.

When it rains, you can tell exactly where it's raining and where it's not. The clouds are just incredible-- so close you think you could touch them, and super dramatic.

However, now that it's rainy season, I'm not as alone as I'd like to be. Oh, sure, I spend my days at home, quiet and solitary to the naked eye. But look closely and you'll see the biting ants coming out to visit me in the shower or in the kitchen, or, even better, the large brown and black cockroach that crawled out from between the hot pads I keep beside the stove. We're strongly considering calling the pest control people we used to have come and spray. Ick.

I had a great phone interview yesterday which I'm hopeful about. It's the math t-a position and the pay is dreadful, but the hours are flexible and it would be a pretty cool job. And we could commute together. They said I'd hear from them within two weeks. I also got wind of an opportunity to work for the father of a girl I used to teach with-- he is ceo of a nonprofit down here and he needs an administrative assistant.

So for now I'm busy tidying up the house to try and sell. I'm also working on making a floorcloth for the kitchen as our current jute rug tends to soak up all spills and drips and never let go. It looks kind of trashy. I'll post pics when the cloth is finished. It's an experiment, and I bought the wrong kind of fabric (marine grade vinyl instead of canvas). Oh well. Worst case scenario, I'll just paint the darn jute rug and it will be an improvement.
