Saturday

On Saturday we went out for an adventure. I received an email invitation to go to the Ave Marie sneak peek and thought it would be a perfect thing for a Saturday. Ave Maria is a new town about 40 miles southwest of Fort Myers which was founded by the owner of Domino's Pizza, a devout Catholic. He wanted to build a town based on Catholic values, centered around a cathedral, and including a Catholic university. They started construction a year or so ago and now things are moving along.

Except that I got the date wrong. The sneak preview is this coming Saturday, so we were sorely disappointed that there were no tours, no previews, and no food as touted in the email.

We drove back to Naples and went to a new place called Fatburger. I mean, with a name like that, how could we not try it?

We got genuine Fatburgers, not Baby Fats, with cheese. They were heavily peppered, almost too much so. But they were pretty good.

After lunch we drove back home and went to baby Kaya's first birthday party. Smug Michigan fan Rico likes to needle the Buckeye-loving family every chance he gets. He even, when experimenting with fertilizer in his back yard, made a giant M with fertilizer which made a giant green M a few weeks later. Showoff.

And Kaya was the laid back star of the show.

i love the conflict and long drawn out hatred between michigan and ohio state! i worked with two people from the opposing teams and it was torture every big game day...jersey's, flags, fight songs, shouts, mean talk...all day long, everywhere! you couldn't escape it. but i do have to admit that i like the t-shirt and the burning an "M" in the lawn. very creative!
