Toasty roasty in these here parts

Soooooo, it turns out I wasn't just having premature hot flashes yesterday morning while getting ready for the day.  It just felt warmer than usual in the house, and by the time I got back from my grocery excursion, the thermostat was reading in the mid 80s.  Inside.  We got the a/c folks out here that night, and it turns out that the fan on the condenser outside seized up.  Thankfully, the $400 part is under warranty, so it only ended up costing us $225 for diagnosis and installation.  But that couldn't happen until today, so last night we opened up the house and turned on every fan we owned so we could sleep.  We were grateful that it rained as that brought the outside temp down to 75, and the house hovered around only about 81.  Getting ready this morning was interesting, since as soon as we got clean in the shower, we were sweating again.  We got ready and ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We got home today about two hours after the job was completed and the house was at 81 degrees (much better than the 90s it was out today).

Then down came the rains and washed the spider out.  Or at least killed our electricity.  These storms are something else-- the lightning makes the hair on our arms nearly stand on end, and the thunder makes the whole house shake.  The storm tonight passed right over the house, and I'm surprised we didn't see lightning strike our front yard.  Well, after a little flickering on and off, the power went out for good, and along with it, our hopes of being cool in the house.  Thankfully, after a trip to Chick-Fil-A for dinner (and a chance running-into with Jeff and the kiddies), we returned home and have power.

In other news, I don't know if I mentioned this, but Brad and I are attending a class at a local church on Monday nights on Theophostic Prayer Ministry.  It's a method of prayer ministry that began about 12 years ago and now has trained facilitators in something like 35 countries. The guy who started it lives in Fort Myers and is running the class himself!  Theo-phostic means God-Light, and it's all about God bringing light to places in our lives where we have believed lies.  It's truly incredible and has blown our minds each week.  We are just beginning to dip our toes in, and are very excited to see where God takes this.  Each week we come away with more truth, and seeing a glimpse of the freedom God desires for us all to walk in.

Ahh, I'm off to do a bit of sewing.  Good, and finally cool, night.
