As I walked to meet Brad to go home, two of these big boys were crossing the big patio area between two ponds on campus. They were as big as dinner plates! One was bold and bee-lined it for the new pond. The other was timid and would hide in his shell as soon as anyone came close. He'd pull his head and limbs in with a jerk and would smack his belly onto the ground-- so funny. Some students eventually picked up the turtles and put them near their desired destination as they were going to have to cross a street.
