So I'm toying with this idea...

What if we moved to Columbus now?

We have one month left on our contract with our realtor.  After that we have 120 days before we can sell it on our own.  So as of October 22 or so, we could drop the price a bunch as we would no longer have realtor commissions to pay.  Which would make it actually sellable, unlike the present situation.

In the meantime, we could move up north, put our stuff in storage, find a cheap place to stay for a few months, find jobs, and pay the mortgage on an empty house for a little while until it sells.

What do you think?  Is that crazy?  Ever done it before?  Thoughts, please!

Renting down here is really tough. The market is saturated with empty houses and cheap rent, and the types of people renting in our town aren't the kind who will care for the house well. We might be able to find a family or couple to stay here, maybe through a church or two we've visited, maybe a free-rent-in-exchange-for-taking-care-of-the-house kind of deal...

The job market it cols is, well, I don't know. But I do know we have a lot of connections up there and that's better than what we've got here. My thought this morning was, if I'm seriously considering waiting tables at PF Changs down here in order to get a paycheck, why not wait tables up there? (I doubt I'd have to wait tables.) We have great connections in the education industry up there in various positions. Brad also has great connections in insurance up there-- a relative is the top head honcho of nationwide, as well as a high school best buddy working for State Farm. Both good possibilities for him.

That said, what are your thoughts?

Happiness is priceless.

In my thoughts, this is a decision that should be made with God in mind first, peace of mind second and fiscal circumstances third.

Tagging on to what Court said, often we ask God for wisdom in making decisions. The problem there is that I can use my own intellect to determine what options make sense and con myself into thinking this is God's wisdom. What I really have to do is determine what option is the one He is calling me to -- regardless of the "wisdom" I can find in it.

Sounds trite, but I know it to be true. We've made errors following the above-described pattern. If I can truly find peace in a decision, knowing it is His will, I have to obey. If I know it is His will, it is His responsibility to make it work (obviously, I have to be obedient).

All that being said, move on up here. I'll get pizza in the oven when you call!

I changed my mind, with a state like this, you have to stay there:
