Friday's Tea Party

Last week was Bethany's 8th birthday, and in honor, Shelley threw a girls-only tea party for the neighborhood girls. Their neighborhood is chock full of elementary-aged kids, and the boys were quite sore that they were not included but that Chase was allowed to attend. But he had to wear a suit for the occasion (Bethany's requirement) so that evened things out.

Jeff, the family artist, made scroll decorations for the dining room:


Shel got a deal on little chairs at Target and set up a beautiful little table for the kids:

Kena arrived screaming excitedly, "I GROWED UP! I GROWED UP! I CAN DRINK TEA!"


And Kaya enjoyed the dog's water bowl.


Shelley led the kids in a few crafts and then served little tea sandwiches and Celestial Seasonings fruit tea. The girls seemed a tad bit disappointed that the tea didn't taste as good as it smelled, but aren't we all?




If you look really carefully you can see Chase's shiner beginning to emerge. While he was waiting for the girls to arrive he decided to go ride his bike, in his suit, in the driveway. His eye met the side mirror of the car.
