Little Kaya looked sweet as well.

And a little tired.

There were a few families from Rico and Beth's church as well as friends they work with, and their kids. There were eight children there. Most of them boys. And they seemed to know the exact pitch that would best reverberate off of the new laminate flooring. Did you know that laminate is louder than carpet? We do.
Here is the candle-blowing-out moment. On a purple princess Barbie cake.

We bought Kena a piano and included a set of earplugs for her parents. It was a big hit with all the big kids.

And Kaya thought the microphone, which fit in her mouth just fine, thank you, was a beautiful amplifier of her sweet baby murmurs.

We love being an aunt and uncle. And can never be parents now because Beth and Rico will retaliate and buy Hypothetical Child Gene a drum kit. Jeff and Shelley will pitch in as well, since we gave an identical piano to little Bethany for her birthday last month.

When the party winded down the cake was served. Obviously-tired Kena opted for the finger approach over the fork.
