May Catch-up

Brad finished his graduate certification as a Compliance Specialist at the end of April. While he was busy at his last weekend of class I borrowed the kiddies for a little Mother's Day project. We went to the craft store and bought etching cream, then went to Old Time Pottery and bought glass plates, platters, and vases to paint for Shelley for Mother's Day!

We first painted the front of the plate with white acrylic paint, so we would have something to follow when we painted the etching cream on the back.

Each kid did two plates, Bethany chose a vase, and Chase chose a platter. They did a great job and we had a lot of fun! We even got to go out with Brad for lunch. The kids are such a blessing and so much fun to be around! We even got complimented as good parents because the kids were so good! (We did have to admit that we were only Aunt and Uncle.) My little creative heart was overjoyed when Bethany said, "This is the coolest craft EVER!" Ah, young one, the world is just opening up to you. Let me indoctrinate you with my Martha ways...

We also got Vinny during this weekend, sweet thing that he is. Georgie did not immediately warm up to him, so in order to avoid constant conflict in my home (and lots of peeing) we moved him to the guest bathroom until after the surgeries. Georgie was very appreciative and resumed her regular activities of planting herself on the sofa.

She has taken to flopping onto her side, which is hilarious. She'll sit just like this for a bit, looking very much like a dead bunny. Funny bun.

With Brad finishing his program we have had much cause for celebration! I planned a little surprise soiree on the weekend following his completion of the program. His aunt, uncle, and cousin were in town from North Carolina and we all had a lovely dinner of bison burgers at Ted's. I didn't get many pictures as we were busy chatting, but here's one of Papaw and Chase goofing around.

After dinner we went back to Chris and Ralph's house for cake and ice cream. It was a lovely party and a wonderful occasion to celebrate Brad's hard work this past year!

ok, question about the etching...You paint on the front so you have something to follow on the back with the etching product, I am assuming you remove the paint from the front then, right? with what? That's such a cool idea, I thought I would try that with my niece this summer when I'm home. (hey any chance you will be in the midwest in Mid July?)
