Brad and I have put up three of our seven ceiling fans. Ah, the joys of a brand new house. It was wired for fans but they weren't included. We're now experts in assembling Hampton Bay white indoor/outdoor 5 blade, 52" width, three speed ceiling fan with light. The wiring we're getting down to a science as well. We learned tonight that it helps when the wire isn't broken at the ceiling level. We couldn't figure out why it worked when we were tinkering with it on the ground, but when we shoved the wires into the ceiling cap to finish it, the dumb thing wouldn't work. Brad noticed after a bit that one wire was actually broken at the ceiling, so after that was fixed the office fan worked. We put one in the guest room as well. Next on the agenda-- the great room fan.
Fun with wires!
Last weekend we worked in our master closet. It came with one shelf with a hanging bar. We installed a wall of shelves in the back and another level of shelves above. Now everything we own clothes-speaking fits in here with rooms to spare!

Here is the beginning of a three-picture tour of our bedroom. Standing at the bedroom door, here is the view down the little hall to our bathroom.

Here is the view of our closet door (slightly left), and our bed and windows (straight ahead).
And here is the view to the right. If it was light out you could see out the double doors to the lanai where the hammock is. You can see my dressing table in the corner and then the church pew from my parents' house.
Onto the great room. This is the view from the foyer, just inside the front door.
And the view from the kitchen.
And finally, here is our new screen door, thanks to Bob the Installer from Lowe's, who felt so comfortable on Tuesday morning as I hacked from my bronchitis that he confessed that he grew up prejudiced for 19 years and only in the past few years has he become more comfortable sitting at a table with a black person (!). I didn't think people like that still existed. I'm not sure why he felt that he wanted to tell me that, but maybe he feels better getting it off his chest. Now if only I could figure out why he was so bent on convincing me that the US should declare a national language. He went on and on about how bothered he was by Spanish words on foods at the grocery. Hm. How's that prejudice recovery going, Bob? (Remember, you live in SOUTH FLORIDA, which includes MIAMI, which is practically North Havana!) Anyway...Presently I am sitting on the above purple couch with the screen door open and the back doors open to the lanai. The breeze is fantastic, just as we thought it would be when we first stepped foot into the place.
Thanks for touring! More rooms to come as we get them organized a bit!
